If you will look at this image, you will think its just a painting but this painting is telling the people to be silent when visiting the village.

It’s a great day again! I went to Ihwa Mural Village today and Naksan Park together with my son. Before I only know the shopping streets in Hyehwa-dong and I didn’t know that there is more interesting place near that place than the shopping streets. Through online searching, I found this place.

This Cinema scope was featured in the drama “You’re Too Much”.

Ihwa Mural Village is an area of Ihwa, Seoul near Naksan Park. It is located between Hyehwa Station and Dongdaemun Station and this place was revitalized by the ‘Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s public “Ihwa-dong Naksan Project” in 2006 together with 70 artists to make murals and installations. This place is popular destination to everyone, foreigners or locals for its scenic setting and murals.

Ihwa-dong was one of South Korea’s “moon villages” or daldongnae, derived from their hilltop locations and traditionally thought to offer a better view of the moon than the other cities. Moon villages were inhabited by mostly working class or poor people who couldn’t afford housing in flat or central parts of the city.

I think this is the best spot here but sad I can’t even take a photo of myself, I mostly travel with my son.

Sad I didn’t have the chance to see it like before 😦

This flower staircase was featured in drama “Rooftop Prince” of Park Yoo Chun.

Sad that the painting on the stairs fades already but I saw from one post that the people from the village erased the painting due to the numbers of guests visiting the place and it became noisy.

I like this black and white, actually this is not a painting. If I remember it was made of iron or something and when you take a photo it will turn out like this, it’s like an illusion.

This house was featured in korean drama “Doctors” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”

I know I haven’t seen the other murals but what I saw was enough to know that there are unexpected beautiful things in an unexpected place. I also found out through my travels that it’s more fun to discover new places than stressing out yourself in nonsensical things ❤

How to go there:

  • Take the subway Line 4 and get down to Hyehwa Station, Exit 2.
  • Walk for about 200meters. Once you see the street called Dongdung-gil, turn left.
  • Keep walking until you reach the Lock Museum.
  • About 50 meters, turn right in a street called Naksan Gongson-gil then walk until you reach Naksan Park.

    HOPE YOU ENJOY! ❤
